If the program is not running, start it up by selecting "Adept Tools" and then "Univiz Sage 50 Viewer" from the Start Button Programs menu.
We suggest that you copy the "Univiz Sage 50 Viewer" shortcut into your Startup folder so that the program is run automatically every time your machine is booted up.
If the search dialog is not showing, locate the icon in the system tray (usually the bottom right corner of your screen) and click it.
The Search Dialog will be displayed at top left corner of the screen.
Program's Menu
To access the Univiz Sage 50 Viewer's menu, right-click on the word 'Search'
Note - the program polls the Sage data files when started. If you add or amend customer and / or supplier records after starting the Sage viewer, click the Refresh button to update
Program Settings
The Settings Menu is accessed by right-clicking the word 'Search' and then selecting from the pop up menu
Check the items that you want displaying in searches
Un-Check any items that you do not want displaying in search
Using the Program
To search for a Company Name, Company Code or Contact Surname enter the first three characters of the Name, Code or Surname in the Search: box.
A list of matches will be displayed. If the list is too long, you may refine it by entering additional characters.
When entering characters you should not bother to enter spaces or punctuation. For example.
The icons in the search results indicate:
= Match on Customer Name or Code.
= Match on Supplier Name or Code
= Match on Contact or Trade Contact Surname. The last word in either of these fields is assumed to be the Surname.
Click any entry in the list of matches to view the associated Company Details.
Email Address:
If the company that you are viewing has an email address the label "Email:" will turn blue and you may click it to start an email to that address. A Please Wait message will be shown and you should be patient as it can take a little while to load up your email client.
Web Site:
If the company that you are viewing has a web site address the label "Web Site:" will turn blue and you may click it to visit the web site, A Please Wait message will be shown and you should be patient as it can take a little while to load up your web browser.
Copy & Paste
Copy
You may copy data from the Company Details for pasting into another application by selecting it with the mouse and pressing Ctrl-C.
Alternatively, you can right click the selected area and select Copy from the menu that appears.
Paste
Switch to the other application, e.g. MS Word and press Ctrl-V or the Paste button to insert your copied data.
To Reset the Search Box
To reset the search dialog so that it is ready for a new search, click the word "Search:" on the search dialog.
Memos
If the record that you are viewing has a Memo it will be displayed in a box that will drop down below the record's details.
As the Sage 50 Viewer Lite can be run on a PC that doesn't have Sage installed (as long as it has access to the Sage data files via a mapped network drive), this feature can be very useful for other staff / departments that may need customer and / or supplier contact information and to read, update or add memo information that is saved within Sage and accessible to other users.
This feature is also available on the Product Viewer Mid and the Order Viewer Pro and can provide access to Sage data files without having to purchase additional user licences for your Sage program.
Edit or Add to a Memo
To edit or add additional notes to a memo click the Edit Memo option and the Memo's background colour will turn light yellow. You may now type your amendments into the Memo in the same way that you would within Sage line 50. To save your changes you must remember to click the Save Memo option.
